Accessorizing your wardrobe can seem like a daunting (and expensive) task at
times. After all, there are dozens of designer brands, and hundreds of styles to
choose from in shoes, handbags, jewelry, wallets, belts, scarves and more.
On the other hand, nothing makes an outfit stand out more than the right
accessories. For example, if you’re wearing a monochromatic outfit, a stylish
handbag, glittering bracelet, or fashionable belt with help you stand apart from
the crowd. Often people notice accessories more than the clothes people are
wearing - just as an expensive Rolex watch will get more comments than a
designer.
Accessories are appealing (even to men, who think of them as toys). Accessories call to us from the pages of fashion magazines, from the windows of department stores, and from online shopping sites. Unfortunately, those same accessories that we just had to have often end up in the back of the closet or buried behind the panty hose in the bottom dresser drawer.
So drag them out and wear them. Find new uses for that lavender scarf or that
rhinestone broach. Give those blue suede shoes a second life. Make that brown
alligator belt you got two birthdays ago work with your new corduroy trousers.
Of course it's important to match the accessories with the outfit, and the
occasion, so that your look will be appropriate and fashionable at the same
time. Just as you probably wouldn’t show up to work in jeans and sandals (unless
that’s approved attire for your job), you probably wouldn’t want to wear a large
jangly bracelet or a cartwheel hat, either.
